Terms of Service

Last updated: April 22, 2026

Bucketlist is operated by Payload Ops, Inc.

Welcome to Bucketlist, a travel planning and travel social network operated by Payload Ops, Inc. By accessing or using our website, web application, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully before using the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Payload Ops, Inc. (doing business as Bucketlist).

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that you have obtained your parent's or guardian's permission to use the Service and that they have agreed to these Terms on your behalf. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

3. Account Registration

To access certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information up to date. You are solely responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • All activity that occurs under your account.
  • Notifying us immediately at [email protected] of any unauthorized use of your account.

We reserve the right to refuse registration or cancel accounts at our discretion.

Usernames. Some features of the Service require you to claim a public username. Usernames must be between 3 and 24 characters, contain only letters, numbers, and underscores, and are unique across the Service on a first-come-first-served basis. If you do not use your account or username for an extended period, if your username impersonates another person, infringes a trademark, or violates these Terms, we may reclaim or reassign it. Usernames are case-insensitive.

4. The Service

Bucketlist provides a collaborative travel planning platform combined with a social network for places. You can create and organize trip itineraries, track flights, hotels, and ground transport bookings, build packing checklists, manage wishlists and shopping lists, share trips with travel companions, maintain a public profile, log and rate places you've visited, follow other users, react and comment on visits, and explore a personalized feed and discover surface. Features are provided "as available" and may change over time. We may add, modify, or discontinue features at any time without prior notice.

5. Email Import

Bucketlist offers an optional email import feature that reads booking confirmation emails from a predefined list of travel providers so we can extract your flights, hotels, trains, and reservations into your trips.

Your authorization. If you choose to connect Gmail or forward emails to the address we provide, you authorize Bucketlist and its service providers to read, process, and store the content of those emails for the sole purpose of generating reservations for your review.

What we access. When you connect Gmail, our access is filtered to messages whose sender is on our travel-provider allowlist (airlines, hotels, rail and transport operators, car rentals, restaurants, and tour platforms). We do not access personal correspondence. Our detailed commitments about Gmail data — including adherence to the Google API Services User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements — are described in our Privacy Policy.

Accuracy disclaimer. Parsed reservations are generated automatically and may contain errors, omissions, or misinterpretations. Dates, times, confirmation codes, and other details are presented for your review before they are added to a trip. You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of any reservation before relying on it for travel. Bucketlist is not responsible for missed connections, cancellations, or other losses arising from reliance on parsed reservation data.

Revoking access. You can disconnect Gmail at any time from your account page or from myaccount.google.com/permissions. Disconnecting stops future syncs but does not remove reservations you already confirmed into a trip; you can delete those individually.

6. Scout (AI Chat Assistant)

Scout is an optional AI-powered chat assistant available to Pro subscribers. Scout helps you plan trips, answer questions about your itineraries, and take actions on your trip data (adding events, notes, flights, and so on) when you ask it to.

How it works. Scout uses a third-party large-language-model service provider — the same one Bucketlist uses for other AI features — to generate responses. We do not store a persistent record of your chat conversations; see our Privacy Policy for details.

Safety preprocessing.Every message you send to Scout is first screened by an automated classifier that flags prompt-injection attempts, attempts to bypass Scout's scope or instructions, and clearly off-topic requests. Messages flagged by this classifier may be redirected or refused.

Accuracy disclaimer.Scout's responses are AI-generated and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated. Scout can also take actions on your trip data when you ask it to; those actions are applied immediately and you are responsible for reviewing them. You should independently verify any information Scout provides — especially dates, prices, travel requirements, health or safety information, or any detail you intend to rely on — before making travel decisions or bookings. Bucketlist is not responsible for losses, missed connections, or other harm arising from reliance on Scout's output or from actions Scout takes on your trip data at your request.

Acceptable use. You agree not to use Scout to attempt to extract its system instructions, bypass its safety filters, generate harmful or illegal content, or misuse it in ways otherwise prohibited by Section 8 (Acceptable Use).

Availability. Scout is currently available to Pro subscribers. We may change, suspend, or discontinue Scout at any time.

7. Your Content

You retain ownership of any trip data, itineraries, notes, place visits, photos, videos, comments, reactions, profile information, and other content you create within the Service ("Your Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, adapt for display, and process Your Content to the extent necessary to operate the Service — including showing any content you designate as public on your public profile, in other users' feeds, in discover surfaces, and in search results. This license lasts as long as the content exists on the Service and ends when you delete the content, except that residual copies may persist in backup systems for a reasonable period before deletion completes.

You represent and warrant that:

  • You own or have the rights to all content you submit to the Service.
  • Your Content does not violate the rights of any third party, including intellectual property rights, privacy rights, and publicity rights.
  • You will not include sensitive personal data about other individuals in Your Content without their consent.
  • Photos and videos you attach to a visit were either taken by you or you have permission from the rights holder to post them.

Visibility. Each visit carries a per-visit privacy setting (public, followers-only, or private). Content you mark public can be seen by anyone, including logged-out visitors, and may be cached, indexed by search engines, or screenshotted by others — once something is public, you should assume you cannot fully retract it. You can change visibility or delete any visit, comment, or reaction at any time from the web app.

Opinion disclaimer.Tier ratings (loved / fine / disliked), ranking scores, and comments reflect the personal opinions of the individual user who posted them and do not represent endorsements or recommendations by Bucketlist. We do not independently verify the accuracy of any user's content.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
  • Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, hateful, harassing, bullying, threatening, or that incites violence.
  • Harass, stalk, dox, or intimidate other users, or post another person's private or identifying information without their consent.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity, or claim a username in bad faith for such purposes.
  • Upload child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate imagery, or any other content that exploits minors or violates applicable child-safety laws.
  • Post spam, bulk unsolicited content, deceptive affiliate content, artificial engagement (fake follows, fake reactions), or content intended to manipulate discover rankings.
  • Post content that infringes the intellectual property or publicity rights of any third party.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable load on the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, another user's account, or our systems or networks.
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access or collect data from the Service without our prior written consent.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
  • Use the Service in any way that could damage our reputation or that of our users.

Enforcement. We may remove content, hide it from public surfaces, limit an account's ability to post or interact, or suspend or terminate an account at any time if we believe in good faith that these Terms have been violated. Reporting tools for abuse are accessible from the web app; you may also email [email protected] to report content or behavior.

9. Sharing and Collaboration

The Service allows you to share trips with others via shareable links or by inviting collaborators by email. You are solely responsible for managing access to your trips. Please note:

  • Anyone with a shareable link can view the trip contents for as long as the link remains active.
  • Collaborators you grant edit access to may add, modify, or delete content within a shared trip.
  • You are responsible for any content added by collaborators you invite.

We are not liable for any content shared by you or for access granted to third parties through links or invitations you distribute.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service may link to or integrate with third-party services, including mapping providers (such as Apple Maps and Google Maps) and travel booking platforms. These integrations are provided for your convenience. Bucketlist does not control third-party services and is not responsible for their content, availability, or data practices. Your use of any third-party service is governed by that service's own terms and privacy policy.

11. Intellectual Property

All content, trademarks, logos, and software comprising the Service (excluding Your Content) are the property of Payload Ops, Inc. (doing business as Bucketlist) or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

12. Paid Features and Subscriptions

Certain features of the Service may in the future require a paid subscription or one-time purchase. If and when such features are introduced, separate pricing and subscription terms will apply and will be presented to you at the time of purchase. The current Service is provided to you as-is without any subscription fee unless otherwise stated.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion. You may close your account at any time from your account settings. Upon termination:

  • Your license to use the Service ends immediately.
  • We may delete Your Content in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
  • Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7, 11, 14, 15, 16, and 17) will continue to apply.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that any defects will be corrected.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Payload Ops, Inc. (doing business as Bucketlist) and its officers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, including any loss of trip data, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

In no event will our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service exceed the greater of (a) the total fees you paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Payload Ops, Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and service providers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to your violation of these Terms, your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

17. Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution. Before filing any formal legal claim, you agree to contact us at [email protected] and give us 30 days to attempt to resolve the dispute informally.

Binding Arbitration. If we cannot resolve the dispute informally, you and Payload Ops, Inc. agree to resolve it through binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. The arbitration will take place in Delaware or, at your election, via video conference.

Class Action Waiver. You and Payload Ops, Inc. each waive the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration. All disputes must be brought in your individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class or representative proceeding.

This Section does not apply to claims for injunctive or equitable relief to protect intellectual property rights, or to small claims court actions where eligible.

18. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on our website with a revised effective date. For significant changes, we may also provide additional notice such as an in-app notification or email. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.

19. Governing Law

These Terms and any disputes arising out of or relating to them or the Service will be governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law principles, except where superseded by applicable federal law.

20. Contact Us

If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us at [email protected].
